Many shoppers and parents from all over the state are gearing up for school and are also preparing to save money on school supplies and cloths for their children during New Mexico's exciting tax-free holiday weekend which starts this Friday, August 3, through Sunday August 5.
Sales tax will still be charged to shoppers buying clothes and shoes that cost less than $100 and school supplies less than $15, as well as on computers and some electronics that cost less than $1,000.
New Mexico has held the tax-free weekend for the eight year now and retailers are expecting a $25 million jump on sales this weekend.
Shoppers will save an estimated $4 million.
