PNM helps nonprofit groups become energy efficient

The nonprofit PNM fund, has awarded Reduce your Use Grants to 55 New Mexico nonprofit groups who came up with successful energy efficient project plans. Over 90 groups applied for this years grant.

“Our goal is to support communities and community organizations in PNM service territories across New Mexico,” said Diane Harrison Ogawa, executive director of the PNM Resources Foundation. “This year, we are excited to be funding projects in a variety of communities including Deming, Alamogordo, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe and Albuquerque.”

The grant is used to help nonprofit groups decrease energy bills, in order to put more money into their programs. Grant requests this year included projects to upgrade to energy efficient lighting, appliances and windows, install solar panels, thermal blinds and shade structures and upgrade cooling systems.

The PNM Fund’s Reduce Your Use Grant program began in 2008. Since then, the PNM Fund has granted more than $1.3 million to 237 nonprofits in New Mexico and Texas.
