SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A California man left paralyzed after a drunken fall at a Santa Fe, N.M., hotel is blaming the hotel for his injuries, saying its staff over-served him alcohol.
A lawsuit filed in state District Court by Mike Sherman of Petaluma, Calif., says bartenders at the Hotel St. Francis continued serving him alcohol after the bar manager cut him off because he was intoxicated.
He rang up a $178 bill at the bar the evening of April 26, 2010, before the manager walked him to his room.
A security guard later found him unconscious outside two other hotel rooms. He injured his spine and was left a paraplegic.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the hotel's manager didn't return calls seeking comment on the suit Thursday.
