SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Initial autopsy reports are inconclusive for a woman who was awaiting release from the Santa Fe County jail but was discovered dead in her cell.

Eusemia Rodriguez was set to be released Tuesday after her arrest that same day on charges of battery on a household member.

Sheriff's Lt. William Pacheco told the Santa Fe New Mexican on Thursday that initial autopsy results usually establish a clear cause of death.

Further tests are being done, but he says the results might not be available for up to six weeks.

Investigators are interviewing people at the jail and family members, who have said they believe Rodriguez had asked for medical attention and did not receive it.

When jail authorities went to release Rodriguez, she was unresponsive and not breathing.
