SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The Santa Fe Children's Museum has announced it raised enough money to keep its doors open.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the museum said in September it would have to shut down due to budget shortfalls unless it could raise about $200,000 by year's end.
As 2012 came to a close, the museum announced it had raised about $220,000, with more donations still flowing in.
Julie DeFeo, the museum's director of marketing and communications, says the facility has also created a task force to help safeguard the museum's financial future.
She says the donations will allow the museum to hire a development director and begin the search for a permanent executive director.
