Santa Fe Art Gallery features straw and tin artworks

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Saturday, Oct. 6 and Oct. 15 from 1-4 p.m., the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission Community Gallery will host the two remaining free artist demonstrations and workshop events.

The Gallery is located at 201 W Marcy Street and artists work will be available for sale at the event. The event will feature works from straw appliqué artist, Craig Moya, Oct. 6 and the last event, Oct. 15 will feature Fred Ray Lopez' permanent collection of tinwork.

City of Santa Fe disposes of expired pills

The city of Santa Fe along with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and Health and Human Services will be disposing of unused and expired medication Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Medication can be taken to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office at 35 Camino Justicia or the old Walmart at 3251 Cerrillos Rd.

Albuquerque's Parking Division helps ease shopper's holiday stress

Albuquerque’s Parking Division is helping holiday shoppers to worry about one less thing. The first two hours of parking are free at three city-owned garages and the water St. parking lot on Dec. 24 and 25.

Interim Parking Division Director Sevastian Gurule said, “The Parking Division plays a huge role in the downtown area as it contributes to public safety and the success of downtown businesses. Our previous parking promotions have been successful, and it just makes the holiday shopping experience a little nicer; to be able to park for free for a couple of hours in a secure covered garage located in the heart of our beautiful city.”

The parking promotion will be valid at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center parking garage, 119 S. Federal Place; the Sandoval parking garage, 216 E. San Francisco St.; the Railyard parking garage, 503 Camino de la Familia; and the lot on Water St., 102 E. Water St.

Fire department to assist with charity holiday toy drive

The members of the Santa Fe Fire Department are joing PakMail and Hutton Broadcasting to help gather toys for the Charity Holiday Toy Drive on Thursday Dec. 15.

The drive will take place at PakMail, 369 Montezuma Avenue from 2 to 4 p.m.

Guests who bring an unwrapped toy to donate during the event will receive a $20 gift card for shipping at PakMail.

The city’s Parking Division is helping to ease the stress on shoppers by offering the first two hours of parking free at three city-owned garages and the Water St. parking lot over three weekends: Dec. 10 and 11; Dec. 17 and 18; and Dec. 24 and 25.

Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center hosts holiday arts and crafts fair

The annual Division of Senior Services Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair will be held Dec. 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center, 1121 Alto St.

Several vendors will be selling a variety of arts and crafts along with homemade baked goods.

Phil Trujillo is set to provide music during the fair.  Door prizes will also be given away throughout the entire event.
